Carlos Guerrero received his bachelors degree from UCSB and went on to complete his masters at CSU Long Beach. However, his real world training and experience comes from working in individuals experiencing medical and behavioral life-limiting conditions (cancer, diabetes, end of life, chronic addictions, homelessness, PTSD, panic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and other major mental health challenges). This humbling experience and human connection is what motivated him to further his studies and trainings. Carlos has practiced in community mental health, medical social work (oncology), urgent care psychological first aid responder, supportive housing (homeless prevention) , group practice corporation, and most recently hanging up his own shingle in private practice.
His years of experience, gaps in the healthcare system, and need for therapist to have ownership and equity over their clinical practice and interventions is what motivated him to start his own group practice. In doing so, the goal is to increase access to mental healthcare by accepting various forms of contracted insurances.
